Nestled within the winding streets of Melaka, Baba House stands as a testament to the rich cultural tapestry that defines this UNESCO World Heritage city. Recently, I had the pleasure of immersing myself in the timeless charm of Baba House, an experience that seamlessly intertwined history, culture, and hospitality. Upon arrival, the grand façade of Baba House exudes an aura of nostalgia, transporting visitors to a bygone era of Peranakan splendour. Stepping through the entrance, I was enveloped in the warmth of traditional Peranakan hospitality, as the friendly staff greeted me with genuine smiles and a warm welcome. The interior of Baba House is a marvel to behold, meticulously restored to its former glory, yet tastefully adorned with modern comforts. Intricate Peranakan motifs adorn the walls, while antique furniture and artifacts offer a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of the Peranakan elite. Every corner of the house is steeped in history, inviting guests to embark on a journey through time. My accommodation at Baba House was nothing short of luxurious. The rooms, adorned with ornate wooden furniture and vibrant Peranakan textiles, exuded an air of elegance and refinement. Modern amenities such as air conditioning and high-speed internet seamlessly blended with the heritage ambiance, ensuring a comfortable stay without compromising on authenticity. Beyond its architectural grandeur and culinary delights, Baba House offers a myriad of experiences to enrich the soul. Guided tours provide insights into the rich history and heritage of the Peranakan community, while hands-on workshops

Brilliant location and beautiful historic setting. Just a block behind Jonker shopping street so you have easy access but none of the crowds. The accommodation is actually 8 adjoining historic Baba Nyonya heritage homes repurposed into a hotel. Always wonderful to see heritage buildings given a second lease of life. The hotel have kept much of the decor (e.g. water well, courtyard, sitting room etc) intact even going so far as to add plaque explaining the history and previous owner. Staying here is like visiting a time capsule but with modern amenities such as WiFi and air conditioning. Regarding facilities, the room is comfortable, spacious and well lit. WiFi signal is strong and room has a small fridge. There is a rooftop bar terrace that gets quite full in the evenings. Didn't eat at the restaurant but prices were fair. Plenty of eateries and shops downstairs regardless. Would recommend Jiuyi Kitchen which is a few doors down for their excellent Cendol and Nyonya curry. Finally, this location is also walking distance to A Formosa Fort but a better destination would be the Baba Nyonya museum also several doors down. Else staff is extremely friendly and helpful to recommend things to do or places to eat in historic Malacca.

The design is beautiful: historical but contemporary and stylish. Beds and pillows were excellent. Had the buffet dinner which was exceptional in quality. The price I paid for, with the discount since my friend and I were staying in a room, made it cheap if compared to what we would have to pay for if we had eaten in a Peranakan restaurant elsewhere. What small number in facilities there was was made up for by the homey touches: movie nights, a library, antique items to take photos with, making this hotel unique in its offerings compared to other hotels elsewhere offering typical facilities. The staff were friendly and considerate. Very helpful too! Their warm relationship among themselves is infectious, carrying their happy attitude over to their customer service.

The location was very ideal and it is a beautiful hotel, reflecting the peranakan culture. They play a movie each night at the front and if I didn't have children, I would have thoroughly enjoyed it with some food and drinks. The shallow pool is good for lounging and for small children as they can play without parents worrying too much. They must have been replacing the umbrellas as when it is hot, there is no reprieve from the sun and the bar is basically unserviced. In terms of cleanliness, it is good in our room, however there is mould at the bottom of the air conditioning and also in the shower. We didn't use the breakfast service but did not hear great things about it so we didn't feel like we were missing out.

Exceptional in every way ! Our stay at Baba House was nothing short of perfect. From the warm, welcoming staff who went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, to the immaculately clean and beautifully designed rooms, every detail exceeded our expectations, from the cozy bedding to the thoughtful little extras—made us feel truly pampered. The house breakfastwas a culinary delight, offering fresh, flavorful options that started our days on a high note. It’s rare to find a place that balances elegance with such genuine hospitality. Thank you for an unforgettable experience—we’ll be recommending you to everyone and can’t wait to return somewhere in time …
